New Guests & That Smile

Over the past few days we've gotten a couple new guests...I'm sorry, Lucas is getting a couple of new guests...or at least one....a top tooth, but I think both are coming in.

He's started doing this super cute look...
However, when he kept doing it, I knew something was up, he's chewing on his bottom lip to ease some of the pain of the top teeth :( poor guy. His bottom teeth didn't cause near as much grief. But this poor fella has gone through the ringer over the past few days with these top teeth. He's had a fever, some serious tears, clinging to mommy, sleeping more (not a bad thing), diaper rash, and even some bathroom issues.

If you know Lucas at all, you know his temperament is so laid back and easy going. He is smiling and happy unless he's hungry or tired, most anything else just doesn't phase him. Sadly, the past few days he has not been himself. I've cried with him as I've tried to ease the pain in so many ways.

And I learned something, oh how I love his precious smile and hearing him coo, talk, and laugh. Yes, of course, I knew those things, but man over the past few days I've learned how precious those things are and how much I MISS them!! He was smiling today and laughing on the floor with me and my heart just burst with joy because that beautiful smile and that adorable laugh has not been present nearly enough. He's been constantly making that cute face above, chewing on his paci--yes chewing, or sadly, crying. I learned how precious that smile and laugh are to me. And I also learned that I take them for granted. I'm sure I will again in the future as it will become the norm once this tooth (teeth) pop through, but for now, I will savor those smiles and giggles that make my day! I love this little boy. I'm glad to have my hubby and mom there to support us through this; although it may not be a big deal to most, it's hard to see him struggle through this, and I hope this isn't the norm for any upcoming teeth...the first two spoiled me :)

Here's to a good night's rest for us all and hopefully a happy, giggling baby that isn't in pain anymore!

7 months ago we were blessed with this cutie ....

Things have changed a little bit ....

This cute little look has become quite the norm around here...we figured out why, too...little man has a tooth coming in on the top, so he 'chews' on his bottom lip, it's quite cute-just hope that little tooth comes through quickly and doesn't cause too much grief.

Next weekend, Lucas will take his first real trip to the beach! He loves the pool so hopefully he'll love the beach, too!!

As far as being a 7 month old, he is really good at sitting up. He's eating and enjoying baby food. He's working on crawling. He hasn't mastered it yet, but he's definitely on his way. He's still not usually sleeping all night without waking up, but he's able to just put himself back to sleep, which means more sleep for mommy! Still 2 teeth on the bottom with one trying to make it's way in on the top! He loves to play and roll and creep on the floor. He really loves the dogs, and lucky for us, the feeling is mutual. They're in for a whole new world when he starts crawling, though.

Father's Day 2014: Andrew's 1st Father's Day

Last year Andrew and I celebrated Father's Day weekend with our fathers, but he had to go out of town on Father's Day. Normally, not a big deal but last year was different because it was the first of him being considered a father as we had recently found out we were expecting our first baby. However, this year, it's truly his 1st Father's day because Lucas is here to celebrate with him :)

We have had to learn how to TRULY put someone else's needs before our own. Yes, of course, being married that was always our goal, but if we fell short every once in a while and put 'me' first, the other person was always ok. But the day Lucas came into the picture, everything changed for the both of us. I am extremely lucky to have Andrew as our child's father. He is so giving and loving. He has so much pride in Lucas. Lucas simply adores his daddy; he just stares at him and loves to play with Andrew. Lucas lights up when his daddy comes home, and he is just infatuated with him. I love their adoration for each other, and I love their relationship. Andrew is constantly trying to make himself better for Lucas, and I am so proud to call him the father to our son.
Lucas and I LOVE you more than you'll ever know!!
Happy First Father's Day Andrew!

Here's a look at some of the many influential fathers we have to thank in our lives

We are so blessed to have these men in our lives, in addition to our grandfathers. I know my dad is one of the most influential people in my life. He's always supported me, believed in me, and wanted the best for me. He is truly the definition of a selfless father, who puts his child first, always.  I am also blessed to have my stepdad, who has been in my life so long, that he has been a huge influence over me as well. And my father in law, is a great man and helped make my husband Andrew into the man and father he is today.

We are so blessed to have these men in our lives. It is true that having their influence and leadership makes a difference in life. Nothing can take the place of a father and his love.

Happy 4 Year Anniversary

4 years ago we said "I DO" and I can't believe time has passed by so quickly. It seems like just yesterday we moved into our first house together...but that's been 2 years. It seems like a lifetime though since we visited Jamaica--probably because it was the best trip of our lives! :) funny how that works?

You are my best friend and my confidant. I have always been able to depend on you. You are a great husband and a terrific father! I am so lucky that I get to call you mine and do life with you! I am so proud of the person you are and the man you've grown to be in the almost 11 years I've known you. You provide selflessly for your family, and you always make sure we have fun together! I hope that everyone has a love like ours and is able to know what it feels like to have a truly wonderful husband/spouse like you.

Happy 4 Years Andrew! I love you
