Crazy Cravings

Let me start this entry off by saying I have literally the best husband there is....I cannot give him enough credit. Once you read this entry, you'll understand why....

We went grocery shopping tonight...his first question was, "Have you eaten something?" So when we went, I wouldn't want so many random things. I am not eating more being pregnant (not yet, at least), but I am very indecisive, which was true pre-pregnancy so it's gotten only worse. :) We had an event a few weeks ago where we went to the grocery store so we could get a few items for a BLT, and I had so many "Oh, I want this" moments...now Andrew jokes about it.

One thing I have wanted randomly is Cherry and Coke Icees. We went to Sam's a few weeks ago, I had to have one....we went to the movies a couple of weeks ago, had to have one...and it has to be the two flavors mixed.

Tonight, we were headed to Sam's, at checkout of course, I wanted to get an Icee......while I paid, Andrew went to get me one...came back empty handed......

Their machine was broken. So we discussed Burger King, (they have them for 75 cents right now) the one we knew of near us/semi-on the way home was closed for remodeling.....

Then on the way to get home, Andrew stopped at 2 gas stations with no luck...I said let's go home, I'l survive, but he was determined and he kept offering so I said sure....then found another Burger King and their Cherry Icee was broken so I settled for a Coke only Icee...it was good but the cherry was missing :( but my husband is truly the best and I cannot thank him enough.....he was quite cute and thoughtful.

I also had mentioned wanting Arby's because I saw some horseradish sauce in Walmart... (LOL that's how my pregnancy brain works...oh I see it, I need it)...and I wanted Arby's because of the 'Horsey' sauce...so then turning out of Burger King, Andrew was going the wrong way (away from home). I was confused and he turned into Arby's and was like, "We're going to get some Horsey sauce.....and maybe some food to go with it, too." LOL :)

It was quite an adventure and from now on with my Icee Cravings, I'm just going to go closer to home to the movie theater LOL :) maybe I can talk him into a movie, too....there are a few new ones coming out this weekend

I told him Baby Oliver thanks his/her Daddy :)

A little adventure for Mrs. Oliver

Every year some changes happen in school and besides a baby coming, another change is happening...Mrs. Oliver is going to be a 3rd grade teacher next year. It's sad to leave 5th grade and my teammates (mostly), but I am excited for this new adventure, along with teaching math and science in addition to reading and social studies!! Wish me luck :)

A little look at a little someone special

13 weeks has quickly come upon us. We went for our next appointment today. I told Andrew I wasn't a big fan of our appointments being on Mondays because I get so excited for the appointment, then feel like I have nothing else to look forward to the rest of the week:) but it's all good.

We had a test done to look at the fluid behind the baby's neck to make sure everything is normal for chromosomes...the number they measured was normal, now we just wait for blood work, between the two they confirm. We should hear back in a week or two.

Also, everything is good, Iron, Blood Pressure, etc is good. Heart beat was at 153 and the baby is measuring about 3.5 inches right now!! Everything is normal:)

Today we had another ultrasound.Baby Oliver looks so much bigger, it was awesome, and he or she was moving and kicking and putting his/her hand near his/her face. It was super cute!!! Can't wait to see him/her again.

Speaking of...our next appointment was supposed to be in June, about 4 weeks away, close to the gender ultrasound...and since we are going to the beach at the very end of June/beginning of July, we asked if we could have the appointment a little earlier than 20 weeks. Our doctor said as long as it was 18 weeks, so we are going on June 25th for the next appointment, where they will draw blood and test to find out info on the baby's spine...along with finding out the Gender!!! Yippeee:) Ms. Mindy suggested if we knew the gender before going to the beach, we'd be able to shop for the baby, so looks like her idea worked!!

We have a few friends who are very excited and want to have a gender reveal party for us ..so it'll be after June 25th but before June 29th!!

The Beginning of Baby Oliver's Adventures

Changing the spare room to be Andrew's game room

Making room upstairs to be our spare room

Bed moved

Andrew's new game room/office...we had to buy some curtains for this room. That's the main reason we didn't just move the spare room upstairs and make this room the baby room. We have a double window right there that's big and beautiful; however, it's on the front, so it makes it very hard to control the temperature. We figured it would be easier for Andrew to deal with the possible temperature problem than a little baby. My husband is already making sacrifices for our baby :) he's truly the best and will be the best dad!!!

Empty (almost) back room to be baby Oliver's room

Upstairs=new spare room (plus some storage)

13 weeks on 5-18-13

We return to the doctor tomorrow for another ultrasound and some tests!! Be on the lookout for another blog with pictures of baby Oliver, where baby Oliver should actually look like a baby:)

Mother's Day 2013

Could there be anything greater and more joyful than becoming a parent? Better yet becoming a mom?

Andrew and I are so excited and blessed to announce that we are expecting our first child. Our hearts could not be more excited!!  God has truly blessed us! We began planning a few months ago and of course were hit with baby fever with many of our friends getting pregnant. I was not quite as ready when we first started discussing it, but Andrew was ready to start trying!! We discussed and prayed and trusted God's plan. It was difficult at times trusting in God's plans and timing, but He has never given us any reason to not trust Him. He has better plans for us than we could imagine, and we trusted His timing and His plan and Him.

The 1st trimester has hit me like a ton of bricks...people described the fatigue and sickness, and I thought, oh I'll just push through it. Oh no way, I felt sick almost everyday and tired every single day. I went to bed unnaturally early and avoided cooking/eating most days as for real meals. (Poor Andrew). I have to say he was so great through it all. We've been to 2 appointments, one on April 15th, at 8 weeks 2 days-where we saw our cute little baby and heard his/her heartbeat. It was truly magical and brought tears to my eyes. We went back 2 weeks later on April 29th for a meeting with my OB nurse to learn lots of fun information!

Here's a look from our 1st appointment

Our next appointment is coming up Monday, May 20th, where we will have another ultrasound and our baby should look like a baby! :) plus some fun tests.

We decided to wait until 12 weeks to announce our pregnancy to everyone, but our family members have known for a while. It's been very hard for parents and grandparents to keep it all in, but we thank you for your patience as we waited!

I have had some crazy cravings...not many things sounded good to me in the few weeks, but one thing I craved was cherry and coke Icees (mixed together of course) and I craved orange juice. Other times I would crave something, but if I did not get that item right at that moment, it passed in a few minutes. Like one day, I wanted a sub from Beezer's, a sub shop near the Horseshoe on USC's campus. After a couple of minutes, it passed and I didn't care anymore.

Some things I have not been a fan of much or wanted...tomato sauce (spaghetti, etc), Mexican (such a shame, it's my FAVE), or chocolate or sweets.

Here's a little glimpse into how sweet motherhood will be. This commercial brings tears to my eyes.
Happy Mother's Day

I seem to be feeling better for 2nd trimester...but I have had a few headaches. I'm not sure if they are coincidental or if I'm really getting headaches since that seems to be the 'thing' for the 2nd trimester. We are very excited and we are both really excited to feel the baby...can't wait until that happens!

To Our Baby,

We have not met you yet, but we so excited to add you to our family. We love you so much and cannot wait to see and feel you grow over the next 6 months. Wow, that's crazy to say, we will get to meet you in 6 months. We will do anything we can to serve you and raise you to know our wonderful creator, your Lord and Savior, who has created you in his perfect timing and his perfect image. I hope you continue to grow healthy and safely over the next 6 months, and when we get to meet you, I pray everything is safe and healthy for us all.

We love you and cannot wait for the next 6 months,
Your Mommy & Daddy

Andrew's beautiful wrapping (if you know him, you'll know this is special, usually he does not enjoy wrapping)

1st Mother's Day...of course our baby is not here yet, but quite a few people made my first one very special: thanks to my amazing husband and parents!

Here are a few fun pictures of our first trimester! I know there won't be much change in the first few weeks, but this was something fun that Andrew and I were excited to do

Here's how I announced to my students:

When solving the puzzle it said, Mrs. Oliver is going to have a baby! They were pretty excited and shocked since 2 other teachers in the 5th grade were/are pregnant this year! But it was fun telling them today, too!
