I am signed up for the Color Me Rad run on Oct. 20th, but I have truly fallen off the running bandwagon since getting back into my school routine. I want to run in the Palmetto Walk for Life 5K for Breast Cancer that is on Oct. 6th, but I'm just not sure I'll be ready. I ran today for the first time in over a week, and I decided to not go with my Couch to 5K, I just ran to see how far/long I could run without walking...which wasn't much!!!! haha so I ran/walked 1 mile, and my plan is to build up. I like the Couch to 5K program, it's great, but if you don't run the full 3.1 miles, the program doesn't change, it allows you to run the length of time that is required and that's it. I enjoy using it, but being that I have 5 weeks before the Oct. 6th run and 7 weeks for the Oct. 20th run, but I don't have enough time to build up that slowly. Even at 7 weeks into the program, I wasn't running a full 3.1 miles. Runners, help!!! Any tips?!
Also, I am joining a program at school called Girls on the Run, where teachers mentor elementary age girls and help them learn about healthy habits for eating and exercising. The culminating event will be a 5K in December, which I think will be awesome, to mentor them and run with them!!! Plus they'll keep me motivated:)
