What Up Doc?

Today Lucas went for his first eye exam. Most would think I'm crazy to say that an 8 month old baby would need to have an eye exam, but with the history that Andrew and I have with eye problems we wanted to be proactive. Our eye doctor luckily offers infant eye exams. Poor thing had his eyes dilated, but it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. However,  his pupils are huge, as you can see! He did a great job, all of the nurses loved him, and our eye doctor was great with him!!

Plus...the best news of all...His eyes are GREAT! He doesn't have any trace of a lazy muscle like his mommy & daddy. Also, he is a little farsighted, which is normal for babies, and they grow out of it. It's actually being nearsighted that they can't grow out of. So all in all, we have a little boy who is healthy and has healthy eyes :) I am so thankful and I hope he never has to experience the problems we had, including glasses, contacts, etc. He will return to the eye doctor when he's 3 :)

8 Months of Fun

It's the middle of the summer and I can't believe it's passed so quickly. Staying home this summer with this cute baby boy makes it EVEN HARDER to get ready to go back to school....I bet all mom teachers understand this

This might be my absolute favorite :)

At 8 months Lucas has lots of new tricks:
  • Lucas can crawl-started on 6/27/14
  • His 2 top teeth started coming in and are both through
  • He can blow raspberries
  • Lucas now pulls up on ANYTHING and ANYWHERE
  • Lucas can pull up and stand in the pack n' play and his crib
  • Lucas can use his sippy cup--he still needs some help but understands the concept
  • Lucas has tried a lot of grown people food--potatoes, toast/bread, pancakes, carrots, noodles/spaghetti, chicken, fries, mandarin oranges, blueberries, watermelon, yogurt (& yo baby), and there's probably more
  • sleeping all night (still wakes up at times, but puts himself back to sleep--this has been a work in progress this summer)
I'm sure I could think of more things, but this baby boy is keeping us on our toes exploring and climbing and pulling and moving so quickly. He has another check up at 9 months and we'll see his weight and stats!  He still loves to jump, watch Mickey & Jake, and ride in the stroller :)

Pirates & Cows

We took a little creative trip over to Jessie's house and dressed our boys up (and ourselves) in cow costumes so we could attend Cow Appreciation Day and receive free Chick-fil-A.

Just a night out with my 2 boys

Pirate playdate with Tucker and Silas :)

And another milestone (if you call it that) ...Lucas decided to pull himself up in the pack n play today ...oh the adventures continue :)

Beach Vacation

Here's a look at our beach trip. We spent July 4th week with my parents and some family in Myrtle Beach. It was a lot of fun taking Lucas to the beach for the first time, except the whole baby sleeping in a new setting (which actually means no sleep...or little sleep). We had a great time, but are glad to be home.
First Bass Pro Visit...Lucas enjoyed watching the fish

First day on the beach. Lucas LOVED the sand. Building (destroying) Pop's creations

A visit to Broadway means a visit to It's Sugar!

Happy 4th :)

First night we walked on the beach

Trying Pop's pancakes

nightly walk on the beach

Lucas loved hanging with his cousins Ian & Shaye

Happy 4th with Mommy

Happy 4th with Daddy

Like my cute hat?

Oh yeah, did I forget to mention, now that he decided to be a moving machine throughout the week, he learned how to pull up? He's still wobbly and not sure about it, but he's constantly doing it.

It was so much fun to watch him this week, I feel like he changed so much right before our eyes...crawling like CRAZY, pulling up on anyone or anything, eating some people food like pancakes, toast, & potatoes. What a memorable trip for us to say the least--glad his Gigi and Pop were there to see it all, too.

We bought a KidCo PeadPod tent....great purchase...he loved playing and as seen here, he loved napping in it on the beach.

Two favorite toys...empty packages...he chased that water bottle EVERYWHERE

pulling up

Splash pad fun with Shaye

Rainy day=outlet shopping with lunch at Steak & Shake

I didn't forget to take a pic of us together
